'A SENSE OF PLACE' EXHIBITION OPENING IN THE NEW SAMHLAIOCHT GALLERY ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 3RD

An exhibition of Work by Kerry Based Artist, Martyn Bell, captures the beauty of the Kingdom of Kerry

An exhibition of work entitled 'A Sense of Place' by artist Martyn Bell goes on display in the new Samhlaíocht Gallery on Friday, August 3rd. The collection of watercolours by Martyn demonstrates the empathy and appreciation which he feels for his adopted homeland of Kerry.

"We're absolutely delighted to have Martyn opening an exhibition at the Samhlaiocht Art Gallery," said Jason O'Mahony, Artistic Director of Samhlaiocht. "His paintings tell the tale of Kerry and show the magic of this most beautiful county."

"I've titled this exhibition A Sense of Place because the paintings are a record of places or impressions of places that have filled my visual memory," explains Martyn. "The paintings capture small fragments or glimpses of Kerry and my emotional response to my chosen home."

"It's wonderful to see our County inspire an artist like Martyn," added Trish Thompson, Curator of the Samhlaiocht Gallery. "His paintings really capture the essence of Kerry, I think people will really enjoy his work."

The Samhlaiocht Gallery is located in the old Presbytery next to St. John's Parish Church in the centre of Tralee on Lower Castle Street. 'A Sense of Place' opens on Friday, August 3rd at 7.30 pm.
